Property safety checks explained

Did you know you can help us keep you and your home safe by allowing us to do our planned electrical, gas and fire safety checks?

We are required by law to carry out safety checks in all of our homes. How often we need to do the check depends on what we’re checking. The standards we have to meet are strictly regulated and are there to keep you and your home safe.

We have to do safety checks on gas appliances and pipework once a year and provide you with a copy of the Landlord’s Safety Record. This is to make sure that your system is operating correctly and safely.

We have to check your electrical appliances, wires and fuseboxes once every five years. We call this an Electrical Installation Condition Report or EICR.

And we have to replace the smoke and heat detectors in your home after they have been in place for 10 years.

It is really important that you let us into your home to complete the checks.
