Kingdom’s Chosen Charity for 2024/26 is LoveOliver
Every two years, staff from the Kingdom Group produce a shortlist of potential charities to support. All staff are given the chance to vote on their favourite charity with the winner being named Kingdom’s chosen charity.
Previous charities have included Andy’s Man Club and Samaritans and Alzheimer’s
The charity being supported by Kingdom for 2024/2026 is LoveOliver, a charity started in January 2011 and raising over £1.6 million to fund research into childhood cancer and provides invaluable support to every family in Scotland with a child diagnosed with cancer. LoveOliver works closely with the Young Live vs Cancer Social workers to provide supermarket vouchers and financial grants for all families, meals for parents of children going through long inpatient stays and quality digital thermometers for each family facing childhood cancer, all in memory of baby Oliver Gill.
LoveOliver runs a drop-in hub, exclusively for oncology families at The Howat Hub, just a short walk from the new Edinburgh children’s hospital, and runs a large children’s charity shop in The Kingdom Shopping Centre in Glenrothes, Fife.
As part of Kingdom’s work with the chosen charity, regular staff awareness sessions take place and the charity is promoted internally on the staff intranet.
A range of fundraising activities will take place to raise money for LoveOliver, with an upcoming exciting fundraising event which will involve 5 staff members abseiling down the Forth Rail Bridge
