If you arrange a direct debit, you do not need to contact the bank to authorise any changes in the amount of payment due as the bank will just automatically change the amount for you. This is the main difference between a standing order and a direct debit. The amount due can be deducted from your bank account on a day that suits you. If at any time we intend to increase the amount to be deducted or change the collection date, we must notify you first, in line with the Direct Debit Guarantee.
