Elizabeth Preston

I joined the Board of Kingdom Support and Care to gain skills in a different sector, but also to use my knowledge and expertise in a new environment. I can provide constructive challenges in a care environment, and I’m most proud that I can advocate for the staff and customers, and attach governance and quality to all the services provided by KSC.

My professional background is in healthcare. I was a nurse and manager across multiple specialties, and I've always been passionate about improving services for patients and supporting staff to undertake change. I was a managing partner and Director of Nursing for an in-sourcing company based in Fife, providing nursing and medical teams for waiting times initiatives. Governance and quality played a big part in all my work and continues to be a focus today.

Looking ahead, I hope to help Kingdom achieve ongoing review of services by continually visiting sites and services, advocating for correct staffing and funding levels, and understanding the housing sector and how it fits with the care strategy. I’m passionate about care in the community and support for mental health and wellbeing across various sectors and locations.

My advice to someone interested in joining a Board? Do it! It is one of the most inspiring things I have done, the rewards are tangible and it matches my motto for life: Be kind and courageous and live every day to its fullest.
