I am an experienced healthcare professional with a varied clinical and managerial career in the NHS. I trained at Guy’s Hospital London and subsequently in neurosciences at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge . I moved to Edinburgh to take up at sister’s post in neurosurgery before taking up a management position in Neurosciences. From there I gained an MBA from Edinburgh Napier University and an MSc in Advanced Leadership Practice from Harvard Business School / Edinburgh Napier University along with a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Economics from the University of Aberdeen.
I have managed many services in NHS Lothian and was the Clinical Lead for the Transforming Care After Treatment programme in the South East Scotland Cancer Network. I have always been passionate about improving services for patients and supporting staff to undertake change. I moved from NHS Lothian to become a managing partner and director of Synaptik – a Healthcare Consultancy, based in Scotland, providing organisational & personal development and coaching. Synaptik evolved into an in-sourcing company, providing clinical staff to address national waiting times agenda.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Getting back to travelling has been wonderful and I enjoy cooking, reading and golf.
Why did you want to join the KSC Board?
Joining the Board of Kingdom Support and Care will enable me to gain skills in a different care sector but also use existing skills in this new environment.
