For over 15 years, Kingdom Housing Association has worked collaboratively with Fairfield Housing Association in Perth. Fairfield is a Registered Social Landlord and Scottish charity just like Kingdom.
Fairfield is a small housing association with 514 homes in Perth and it is difficult for many smaller housing associations to comply with all the regulatory and compliance standards that all housing associations must meet and last year we started to provide a full range of management and financial services to Fairfield.
In January this year, the Boards of both associations undertook a strategic options appraisal and it was agreed that we should pursue a Transfer of Engagements from Fairfield to Kingdom. The business case has been developed over the last few months and will be considered by the Board in June 2021. Subject to Board approval, we will be progressing towards a ballot of Fairfield tenants, which should happen in August.
For the transfer to proceed the majority of Fairfield tenants must vote in favour of it. Subject to a successful ballot, Fairfield will cease to exist as a separate housing association and all the properties will transfer to Kingdom and the Fairfield tenants will become Kingdom tenants.
If the transfer proceeds, we intend to establish a local area committee covering the Perth and Kinross area and Kingdom tenants in the area will also have the opportunity to be involved, further details on this will be issued in the future.
For Kingdom tenants, the transfer will have no impact on the cost of your rent or on the services you receive. Our planned maintenance and upgrade programmes won’t be affected and we will continue to deliver excellent customer service.
