#TestItTuesday

Working smoke and heat alarms save lives, but from time to time we all need a gentle reminder that we need to make sure they are in full working order.

#TestItTuesday is a weekly campaign across social media that’s there to remind you about the importance of making sure all of the alarms in your home are in working order.

Fires can start at any time and for many reasons. Having a fully functional smoke and heat alarm can make the difference between getting out of your home safely or not at all.

Regular testing of your alarms will give you the peace of mind that should a fire start, you will be given the warning you need to escape.

It is also important that we also encourage or help our friends and families to make sure that they have the correct smoke and heat alarms installed and they are in good working order too. Not everyone will remember, or be physically able, to install or check their own alarms, so a few minutes of your time could be of huge benefit.

Checking your alarms is a simple task that you can do within a few minutes. Remember, if your alarms do not sound when you are testing them, not only does it mean they won’t alert you if there was a fire, but also that there is a fault with it which will need addressing as soon as possible.

Test it Tuesday is not just for the awareness of smoke alarms but all alarms, such as your carbon monoxide alarm. Carbon monoxide is known as a silent killer as it has no smell or signs so an alarm is a vitally important way of letting you know you are in danger.

If your smoke, heat or carbon monoxide alarms are faulty you must report this immediately to Kingdom.
