On Wednesday 8 March, some colleagues from Kingdom Housing Association including Kingdom’s new Group Chief Executive Tom Barclay and HR Director Andrew Latto attended the WISH (Women in Social Housing) International Women’s Day event in Glasgow.
Kingdom was the proud sponsor of the event and the theme was embracing equality and breaking the glass ceiling.
The event welcomed Divisional Commander Carol McGuire, Chief Superintendent in Dumfries & Galloway, to talk about her experience of rising through the ranks at Police Scotland.
Carol spoke about her successful career with Police Scotland and the barriers she has faced including self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and the preconceptions of some colleagues towards female officers.
It was an exceptional, inspiring and very interesting talk that was enjoyed by the audience of around 40 colleagues from across the housing sector including Lara Oyedele, CIH President.
After the event, Tom Barclay said, “It was a privilege to meet and listen to Carol today and her journey as a truly inspirational leader in Scotland. It was also timely to hear her story on International Women’s Day and for the Kingdom Group to support this event and the amazing women leading the work of WISH.”
