The Met Office has issued its highest level of warning as winds of between 80 and 90mph are forecast. The red alert is in place from 3pm on Friday to 2am on Saturday.
Red warnings mean there could be danger to life, damage to property, travel and power disruption, and dangerous seas. A Met Office amber weather warning for winds gusting to 75mph is in place until 9am on Saturday.
As a result of the Red warning, until Saturday morning, we will only be able to deal with emergencies. We have doubled the number of operatives on call so will have extra staff available to deal with work on Saturday. While the weather warning remains in place, operatives will be working in pairs for their own safety.
