If you pay for childcare while you go to work, Universal Credit can pay some of your childcare costs. This includes holiday clubs, after-school clubs and breakfast clubs.
Parents can now claim up to £951 for one child and £1,630 for two or more children. This is a rise of 47% from the previous limits.
Also, families who are eligible will now receive upfront, immediate support with their childcare costs, removing one of the most significant barriers to parents working.
The new changes mean that the Government will help parents cover the costs for the first month’s childcare when they enter work or significantly increase their hours, which was previously paid in arrears.
Those parents will also receive up to 85% of their childcare costs back before their next month’s bills are due – providing families with the money to pay one month in advance going forward.
