Challenge Poverty Week is a much-needed opportunity for communities to come together to reflect on the causes of poverty and inequality in Scotland today.
Each day this week will see us highlight a particular theme and today’s theme is all about celebrating Communities and Volunteers.
Many people are feeling increasing levels of loneliness and isolation today and it can be hard to know what to do to break the cycle. Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things you can do. It’s a great way of meeting new people, learning new skills, and building confidence. Volunteering has a massive community benefit, with millions of hours contributed each year to helping others. It’s a great investment of time that pays itself forward countless times, in many different ways.
There are many ways volunteering can make a difference to our communities. Volunteering can help you feel part of something outside your friends and family and you can meet new people or make new friends. Most importantly though, you can contribute to making a positive impact.
There are thousands of volunteer opportunities across Scotland. If you are interested in volunteering then why not find out more by visiting Volunteer Scotland at the link below:
Thanks and keep checking to see what other themes we will be covering this week!
