Kingdom Celebrates Latest Completion in Inverkeithing
12 July 2010

The development consists of 31 affordable houses for rent and 6 for sale on a shared ownership basis. The cost of the development was around £3.5 million and was partly funded through grant subsidy from the Scottish Government.

The development which replaces the previous unpopular Council flats was redeveloped through a partnership arrangement with Fife Council and is built to a high standard which includes a solar water heating system and energy monitoring meters to help keep fuel bills low for the residents.

Mrs Lark said, “The difference the new house makes to our lives is unbelievable. We certainly need a house like this but I still feel incredibly lucky”.

Kingdom’s Chief Executive Alan McGuckin said; “We’re delighted that we’ve been able to complete such much needed accommodation to a very high standard. We’re also looking forward to finishing off the development by commissioning a piece of artwork which will be installed at the entrance to the development. The art work will be constructed in galvanised steel and is being designed as a roll of paper being passed through rollers reflecting the presence of the former Caldwell Paper Mill, in Inverkeithing. The artwork project is being managed by PACE (Public Art Commission and Exhibitions) and should be completed by the end of August”.

Councillor Brian Goodall, chair of Fife Council’s Housing & Communities Committee said "I am delighted at the delivery of another affordable housing project in partnership with Fife Housing Association Alliance. These new properties, built on the cleared site of unpopular flats are more suited to the needs of the community. Their completion is part of an ongoing approach to improve this area of Inverkeithing, with a study considering the options for the future of Fraser Avenue which will involve consultation with tenants and residents, expected to start soon.'
